SUMMARY:Walk the Rock Memorial Climb
DESCRIPTION:The World Trade Center's Twin Towers each consisted of 110 floors and 2071 steps\, and each year thousands of people across America walk\, climb\, and run to remember. Firefighters in full gear\, Police\, Military and Bomb Squad personnel march steadily alongside civilians of varying ages\, abilities\, and backgrounds.\n\nThis powerful morning will reconnect you to the kindness\, strength\, and bravery exhibited on that dark day.\n\nTogether we vow to Never Forget.\n\nIn remembrance of the September 11\, 2001 attacks\, members of the public will join area firefighters to climb Grant Street in honor of the 343 firefighters from the FDNY who gave their lives while trying to save others.\n\nThe memorial Walk the Rock will consist of 4 lengths of Grant Street starting and ending at the top of the street. This will simulate the 110 stories of the twin towers. We will have weight vests\, hose bundles\, and tools for people to carry if they would like to simulate the weight that firefighters had to carry while ascending the burning twin towers.\n\nSome may even want to go above and beyond by doing the equivalent of 343 flights of stairs. This will memorialize the 343 emergency responders who lost their lives on 9-11. 343 flights will be 12 lengths of Grant street. If you would like to perform 343 please make sure you arrive early to give yourself enough time to complete your lengths by 11 am. Those who complete the 343 Challenge will receive a commemorative challenge chip!\n\n(1-length of Grant Street will be starting at the top and ending at the bottom. Also 1 length will be traveling from the bottom to the top. All participants will start at the top and finish at the top.)\n\nFree Walk the Rock T-Shirt 2022 with every registration. Kids under 16 may attend for free. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Children will not receive a T-Shirt unless they complete their own separate registration and pay registration fee.
