flashback cinema: Matilda--30th anniversary (1996)

Comical fantasy based on the beloved children's book by Roald Dalh (Charli and the Chocolate Factory).  Matilda (Mara w/ilson) is a resourceful 6-year-old who loves to read and must rely on her psychic powers to overcome the challenge of living with her neglectful parents (Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman).  ("Why would you want to read when you have a television set sitting right in front of you?")  Rated PG
