Western Wyoming Community College (Western) invites our communities to come celebrate various cultures with Western students! The Cultural Connections Club will be hosting their annual International Night on Wednesday, April 10. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. in Western’s Atrium. The evening will be filled with food, drinks, and performances by students and community members. A suggested donation of five dollars per person is encouraged as the funds support club activities.
Rock Springs, Wyoming has a long tradition of diversity, often referred to as the city of 56 nationalities. That tradition of creating a diverse community continued when Western was founded in 1959, and over the years Western has hosted students from 67 countries.
Western is proud to host international students from across the globe on its campus. International students who attend Western and fellow club members will be sharing music, performances, and native costumes from their homes at the annual spring event. Students will also be offering hand-crafted bracelets, and traditional pieces for purchase along with a 50/50 Raffle.
This year’s cuisine experience will feature a unique range of flavors as local businesses have joined Western in creating the dishes for International Night. Food for the event will be provided by Boschettos, Cornman's Kettle Corn, Dickey's, Eve's, King Buffet, Papa Murphy's, Stellar Coffee, Renegade Café, The Hungry Buddha Food Truck, Wendy's and many more!
As you enjoy a sampling of culinary delight, various performers will take the stage! The list of performers includes dances from Luis Díaz, Jacob Díaz, Anamartin, Miranda Salas, the Rock Academy, and belly dancing from Luna with the Red Desert Rapture Bellydancers. There will also be singing performances by Raquel Rivera, Yamid Castro, Sebastian Fraire, and local artists, Emcee Fish Stix, Yung Smallz, Sickamore Treezy, and T00m3r.
