Date: April 13, 2018 - April 14, 2018
Event Description:
Western Wyoming Community College’s English Department is sponsoring a writer, A.A. Balaskovits, to speak on campus Friday, April 13th, 2018. The readings will take place at 7:00 PM in room 1003. An additional reading will take place Saturday, April 14th at 10AM at the Coal Train Coffee Depot downtown.

A.A. Balaskovits is the award-winning author of the short story collection, Magic for Unlucky Girls, which won the Grand Prize in the 2015 Santa Fe Writers Project Awards. In the collection, Balaskovits twists traditional fairy tales into surprising modern stories of horror and hope as her unlucky girl protagonists struggle against oppression and survive strange worlds.

Balaskovits, who holds a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri, has also published short fiction and essays in a number of acclaimed literary journals, including The Madison Review, Smokelong Quarterly, Gingko Tree Review, Wigleaf, The Indiana Review and Monkeybicycle.

There will be a second community reading on Saturday, April 14th, at 10:00AM at Coal Train Coffee Depot. Books will be available for purchase before and after the event.

This events are free and open to the public. The community is encouraged to attend. For more information about the author, visit her website www.aabalaskovits.com. For questions regarding this event please contact Michelle Zuppa at mzuppa@westernwyoming.edu.
