Mining
Black Butte mine is in the Green River Basin in Sweetwater County, south-west Wyoming, USA.
Black Butte is a 50/50 joint venture between Ambre Energy and Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. As with Decker mine, Ambre Energy operates the mine and is responsible for marketing.
The mine ? a combination of dragline and truck and shovel stripping ? targets production of about 3.4 million metric tons of coal each year. It is serviced by Union Pacific Railroad via an existing onsite rail loop.
Along with supplying the existing domestic market, Ambre Energy is working towards exporting coal from Black Butte to the international market.
